On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Macedonian–American Alumni Association (MAAA), Strategers Founder and CEO, Dr. Fatmir Besimi, participated in a distinguished panel titled “Regional Safety: Security and Economic Growth” at the Balkan Alumni Summit.

In his panel contribution, Dr. Besimi emphasized the importance of transformative leadership and regional cooperation as core drivers of progress. He presented a strategic perspective through the lens of what he called the Progress “PIN Code”:

  • People – Leadership committed to driving change and progress
  • Institutions – Building credible and resilient institutions for sustainable development
  • Network – Investing in infrastructure and fostering cooperation to unlock regional potential

Addressing the deeper foundations of progress, Dr. Besimi underscored the need for a mindset shift across the region:

  • Confidence – Shifting from “nothing works here” to “yes, we can do it”
  • Action – Replacing apathy with initiative: from “who cares?” to “let’s do it!”
  • Sharing – Encouraging openness: from “it’s not your business” to “this works—try it too!”

Finally, he highlighted the essential link between security and economic growth, stating that “they are two sides of the same coin.” Countries that have joined NATO and the EU have witnessed accelerated growth, yet it remains the responsibility of leaders and stakeholders in the region to create conditions conducive to investment, innovation, and long-term stability.

Strategers remains committed to shaping a secure and prosperous future for the Western Balkans through policy dialogue, expert collaboration, and forward-looking leadership.
